Which lights take it

Match the base. Nothing else about the bulb matters until that is right.

Fits

Spotlight — Replaceable MR16 GU5.3 socket behind the lens.
Any 12 V MR16 fixture Landscape, track or recessed, on a 12 V AC or DC supply.
Enclosed fixtures Aluminum body — rated for enclosed use.
Old halogen spots Same pins, a tenth of the draw.

Not this bulb

Path lights They take a G4 — different pins.
120 V GU10 fixtures Looks similar, twists in, runs on line voltage. Not this bulb.
Dimming transformers Not dimmable — it flickers.
Well, deck, rail, hardscape, pond lights Integrated LED — no bulb to change.

Changing it

Open the head, pull the old bulb straight off its two pins, push the new one on, close the head. No tools; the stake stays in the ground.

When one spotlight in a run goes dark and the rest stay lit, it is the bulb. When they all go dark together, it is the transformer or the wire — what to check first.

Runs on what you have

Any 12 V landscape transformer, AC or DC. Never on 120 V — the bulb is the first thing that goes.

Keep spares dry

In the box, indoors. The pins corrode before the LED does.

What the numbers mean

450 lumens through 36° is a beam, not a glow. It is why the spotlight can pick out one tree and leave the lawn alone.

5 watts replaces a 50 W halogen: ten of these draw what one halogen did, so the transformer you already own has room.

Not dimmable. Run it on a plain 12 V transformer; a dimming supply makes it flicker.

Questions people ask

Is this the same bulb that came in my spotlight?

Yes — 5 W, 2700 K, GU5.3, 12 V, 36° beam. Same color, same beam, same pins.

MR16 or GU10?

MR16 with GU5.3 pins is the 12 V one — it pushes on. GU10 twists in and runs on 120 V. The spotlight takes the 12 V MR16.

Is it dimmable?

No. On a dimming transformer it flickers. Run it at full on a plain 12 V supply.

Can I put it on 120 V?

No. 12 V only. On line voltage the bulb goes immediately.

How long does it last?

50,000 hours by the manufacturer's rating — about 17 years at eight hours a night. Keep the spares dry; the pins corrode before the LED does.

Does it come with a transformer?

No — it is a bulb. It runs on the 12 V landscape transformer that already powers your spotlight.
