The waste
There are no leaves on this page. We have not bought offsets, we have not printed a green logo, and we will not tell you a garden light saves the planet. What we can show you is a socket, a shorter catalog, a thicker coat of paint, and a beam that points at the ground.
The most wasteful thing about landscape lighting is how it fails. A potted fixture dies as one piece — housing, driver, lead and stake, a pound of cast aluminum and resin in the bin because a component the size of a coin gave out. Multiply that by a yard, then by a decade. We know, because from 2019 to 2024 we built lights that way.
The socket
Our answer is a socket. On the replaceable-bulb path lights and the MR16 spotlights, the failure part is a stock G4 or MR16 bulb. The fixture stays in the ground; a few grams of glass and pins get replaced. Bulbs, wire and transformers are sold on their own, so a system gets fixed one piece at a time instead of rebought.
The catalog
The second most wasteful thing is a long catalog. Ours was, until 2024: spotlights in six wattages, bundles around whatever transformer was in stock, plastic-bodied fixtures that would not see a third summer. We retired them. What stays is built around a more focused range of standard bulbs, connectors and transformers, so compatible models can share parts. Match the bulb, connector and power supply to the exact product; parts are not interchangeable across every model. Fewer, interchangeable parts is the least glamorous environmental decision a hardware company can make. It is also the one that actually shrinks what gets thrown away.
The coat
The third is a coat of paint. Our die-cast aluminum carries a 70–100 μm powder coat, tested to 500 hours of salt spray. We specified it for three reasons, in this order. The fixture lasts longer, so it is replaced less often. It looks and feels like a finished object rather than a painted casting, so it is kept rather than swapped out. And it lets us give the same ten-year warranty on the coast as inland. Brass we leave alone: it weathers to a patina, it does not rust.
The beam
Sustainability outdoors also means the sky. Light that leaves a yard upward is wasted twice — the watt, and the night. So the beams are aimed at the path, the tree or the wall, not past them. For a warm, porch-bulb feel, choose a model with a 2700 K option; color and beam options vary by model. Aim each fixture carefully and use shielding where available to keep glare out of nearby windows. We do not hold dark-sky certification. You can check the result from your own back step.

We are not done.
Part of the line still runs integrated LEDs, marked plainly on every product card, and is being rebuilt to take stock bulbs as tooling comes online — path lights first. Our packaging and our end-of-life story are unfinished work, not achievements.
What we will not claim.
Carbon neutrality we have not measured, recycled content we cannot trace, certifications we do not hold — dark-sky certification included, until we hold it. When any of that becomes true, it goes on this page with the paperwork. Until then: the socket, the shorter catalog, the thicker coat, and the beam that points down.
What happens when a bulb fails?
On the replaceable-bulb lines the fixture stays in the ground and you swap a stock G4 or MR16. Bulbs, wire and transformers are listed on their own.
Are HIBOITEC lights sustainable?
We do not claim it. We have not measured carbon, cannot trace recycled content and hold no certifications. What we can show is what comes apart, what we retired, how thick the coat is, and where the beam lands.

Aim the beams at the path, tree or wall, not past them. Choose 2700 K where offered for warm light, and use shielding where available to reduce glare toward windows. Color and beam options vary by model. We do not hold dark-sky certification.
