Where it lives

One transformer runs the front yard, pathway and patio on three independent schedules. Set one area to dusk-to-dawn, another to a dusk countdown and another to fixed on/off times.

The stainless steel housing is rated IP65 for outdoor rain and snow. Mount it vertically above the ground, away from direct sprinkler spray and standing water. Do not submerge it. Disconnect power before wiring or servicing.

Use temporary ON/TEST to check all zones or one selected zone before burying the cable. The test ends after approximately five minutes and returns to the saved mode.

The 50%, 80% and 100% indicators show the combined load across all three zones. They do not represent separate power allowances for each zone.

Which size

Add up the fixture wattage across all three zones. Plan for about 80% of the selected model rating. The examples below are alternatives, not counts to add together; follow the terminal and wiring requirements in the manual.

What it carries

300 W — up to 240 W of fixtures Example alternatives: 80 × 3 W OR 48 × 5 W OR 20 × 12 W. Counts are across all three zones combined.
400 W — up to 320 W of fixtures Example alternatives: 106 × 3 W OR 64 × 5 W OR 26 × 12 W. Counts are across all three zones combined.
500 W — up to 400 W of fixtures Example alternatives: 133 × 3 W OR 80 × 5 W OR 33 × 12 W. Counts are across all three zones combined.
600 W — up to 480 W of fixtures Example alternatives: 160 × 3 W OR 96 × 5 W OR 40 × 12 W. Counts are across all three zones combined.
A mixed yard 24 × 3 W path lights + 12 × 5 W spotlights + 6 × 12 W well lights = 204 W total. Plan the cable and each terminal connection as directed in the manual.

Not this transformer

DC-only fixtures Use fixtures rated for the selected 12 V or 14 V AC supply. A 12 V label alone does not establish AC compatibility.
24 V lighting systems Use the power supply specified for the fixture or kit.
120 V fixtures Do not connect line-voltage fixtures to these 12 V / 14 V AC outputs.
Kits with their own controller Check the kit instructions; do not replace its supplied power system without confirmed compatibility.

Setting it up

Plan the load, wire with power disconnected, then test.
Step What you do
1 Choose the wattage for the combined fixture load, leaving about 20% headroom. Mount the transformer vertically above ground, away from sprinklers and standing water.
2 With power disconnected, connect each lighting run to its zone terminals. Choose 12 V or 14 V AC according to fixture ratings, wire gauge, cable length and load.
3 Position the photocell where it can sense daylight. Follow the manual, reconnect power and use temporary ON/TEST to check all zones or a selected zone.
4 Set a mode for each zone. Check the combined-load indicators and keep the planned fixture load at or below about 80% of the model rating.

If the load is too high, disconnect power and reduce connected load or use a properly sized additional transformer. Splitting wiring between zones on the same unit does not increase its total capacity.

Check the fixture voltage ratings, cable gauge, run length and total load before connecting. Follow the installation manual and the markings on your transformer.

Choose compatible fixtures

Use low-voltage landscape fixtures rated for the selected 12 V or 14 V AC supply. Do not connect DC-only, 24 V or line-voltage fixtures.

Choosing 12 V or 14 V

The 14 V tap can help compensate for voltage drop. Choose the tap using fixture ratings, wire gauge, run length and total load. Check the voltage at the fixtures; cable length alone does not determine the correct tap.

What the numbers mean

The rating is shared across all three zones. Choose 300 W, 400 W, 500 W or 600 W for the whole system, with a recommended combined fixture load of about 240 W, 320 W, 400 W or 480 W respectively.

Three zones provide independent schedules, not three times the rated power. The panel's 50%, 80% and 100% indicators show the combined load.

Use a separate mode for each area. ON/TEST is a temporary installation check; it returns to the saved mode after approximately five minutes.

Questions people ask

Do three zones mean three times the rated power?

No. The selected model provides 300 W, 400 W, 500 W or 600 W in total across all three zones. Plan a combined fixture load of up to about 240 W, 320 W, 400 W or 480 W respectively. The indicators show the combined load, not a separate allowance for each zone. Follow the terminal limits and installation instructions on your unit.

Can each zone use a different schedule?

Yes. Each zone can use its own dusk-to-dawn, dusk countdown, dusk-to-a-set-off-time or timer setting. A zone can also be switched OFF.

Which landscape lights can I connect?

Use low-voltage landscape fixtures explicitly rated for the selected 12 V or 14 V AC supply. A 12 V label alone does not establish AC compatibility. Do not connect DC-only, 24 V or line-voltage fixtures.

When should I use the 14 V tap?

The 14 V tap can help compensate for voltage drop. Select the tap using the fixture voltage rating, wire gauge, run length and total load, and follow the installation instructions. Check the voltage at the fixtures; cable length alone does not determine the correct tap.

What does ON/TEST do?

ON/TEST temporarily powers all zones or a selected zone for installation checks. After approximately five minutes, it returns to the saved mode. It is not a permanent always-on setting.

Can it go outside?

Yes. The IP65 enclosure is designed for outdoor rain and snow. Mount it vertically above the ground, away from direct sprinkler spray and standing water. Do not submerge it.

Are lights and landscape wire included?

Lights and main landscape wire are sold separately. The transformer, photocell and user manual are included. The 300 W package also includes a transformer mounting kit and a photocell mounting kit.

What is the warranty?

The transformer, including its photocell and timer, is covered by HIBOITEC's 10-year warranty, subject to the warranty terms. Contact support@hiboitec.com with your order number, product name and a photo. Warranty terms
