MIXED STARTER KIT · PATH + ACCENT

2-Zone Path & Accent Kit

Start with 6 path lights and 2 spotlights for your entry route and selected landscape features. The 200W two-zone transformer lets route lighting and decorative accents run on separate schedules, with 100 ft of 12 AWG wire for your first installation.

A complete front-and-backyard lighting plan may grow to around 25–40 lights. These first 8 lights are the starting point: the 200W transformer’s spare capacity and two independent schedules support later additions. Begin with your priorities, then add compatible fixtures and extend the wiring as your yard plan develops.

Where this kit goes

One front-yard project, with separate schedules for the route and the garden. The path lights point down; the spotlights pick out the details above them.

Start here

Pathway / driveway edgeGuide a selected walking route or a short stretch beside the drive.
Trees / garden bedsLight low planting edges with China Hat; aim the spotlights at selected trees or features.
Facade / columnsUse the MR16 spotlights for individual columns and selected wall details.
Front garden / entryBring the path, planting and a few focal points into one front-yard project.

Plan these separately

Steps / deck surfacesUse the matching step or deck fixtures for the tread and built-in edge positions.
Wall caps / hardscapeUse under-cap fixtures where the light needs to sit beneath the stone.
Ponds / underwaterUse a dedicated submersible lighting system.
Long routes / large areasMeasure the route and add the right fixtures and wire for that task.

The spotlights include 36° MR16 bulbs for selected accents. Neither kit promises whole-yard coverage.

One system. Separate schedules.

A zone is a group of lights that runs on the same schedule. Mix path lights and spotlights in a zone when they serve the same evening routine.

How it fits your yard

Start with the path length and the areas you want to control. The property-size reference below describes the entire residential lot, including the house footprint, driveway and yards.

Path-length guide

PlacementSpacingFirst-to-last light
4 path lights6–8 ft18–24 ft
6 path lights6–8 ft30–40 ft

With four along the entry, the other two can sit at selected planting edges. A tree may use more than one spotlight depending on its shape and the effect you want.

A longer front path? Use the alternative layout above to put all six path lights on the route, then distribute the spotlights between the remaining zones.

Residential property size

⅛–¼ acre

5,445–10,890 sq ft · 506–1,012 m²

Reference size of the whole residential property, including the house footprint, driveway, front yard and backyard. This kit starts the selected front-yard route and accents; a smaller or larger property may also fit.

These figures describe total land area, not indoor floor area, front-yard area or lighting coverage. Choose 2 zones when you need 2 separate lighting schedules.

Power and wire, already paired

A 200W 2-zone transformer and 100 ft of 12 AWG main wire are included. Start with the planned runs; keep space for later additions.

Divide the wire between runs

55 ft to the entry path + 30 ft to the front garden + 15 ft to spare. This is a material-budget example, including lead-in lengths.

100 ft is the total wire supplied, not the permitted length of one run. Include the distance from the transformer to each lighting area and verify voltage at the fixtures.
Why 12 AWG in this kit?
Thicker copper lowers wire resistance and leaves flexibility for later additions. 14 and 16 AWG can suit other layouts; the correct gauge depends on the load and the length of each run. This starter includes 12 AWG so you can begin with one paired configuration.
Why 200W for a 28W load?
The kit uses the existing 200W 2-zone model for independent schedules and future expansion. The included lights draw 28W; they do not require the transformer’s full capacity.

Questions people ask

Does this include the transformer and wire?
Yes. The selected kit includes the lights, their bulbs, stakes and fixture connectors, one 200W 2-zone transformer and 100 ft of 12 AWG main wire.
Can path lights and spotlights share a zone?
Yes, these included fixtures can share a compatible zone. Put lights together when you want them on the same schedule. Keep the total load and wiring within the selected transformer’s instructions.
Will this light my whole yard?
This kit starts the selected route and focal positions shown above. Actual fixture count depends on your path lengths, objects, mounting positions and desired effect. The lot-size range is planning context.
Can I add lights later?
Yes. The current load is 28W against a 160W planning allowance. Before adding lights, check the new total load, each wire run, voltage compatibility and the exact installation instructions.
Are the bulbs replaceable?
Yes. The China Hat path lights include 3W, 2700K G4 bulbs; the spotlights include 5W, 2700K MR16 GU5.3 bulbs. Match the fixture’s electrical and physical requirements when replacing a bulb. Contact support for current G4 replacement availability.
I already have a transformer. What should I buy?
Use the separate path-light packs and spotlight packs, then check compatibility and existing load. Both configurations are for a new system.
Is each kit a single boxed product?
The kit is a coordinated set of existing packages. Review the component list above; packaging and parcel count can vary by fulfillment.
What about warranty and returns?
Component-specific warranty coverage applies. See the warranty terms and return policy for coverage and eligibility.
