2019
HIBOITEC started in 2019 on the aluminum shelf, making the light everyone else made. The LED, its driver and the lead wire went into a die-cast housing, resin went in after them, and the fixture shipped as one sealed piece. It was built to a price, and for a season or two it worked. Then a driver failed, or water found the gasket, and there was nothing to open and nothing to swap. The light went in the bin and the set got bought again. We sold that light for five years.
Those five years were a long catalog. Deck lights, well lights, spotlights in six wattages, color-changing kits, bundles built around whatever transformer was in stock, plastic-bodied fixtures sized for a shelf rather than a yard. We are not proud of it, and we are not hiding it, because it is where we learned the market. We learned which fixtures came back and why. We learned the two questions the support inbox asked every week: how many lights on this transformer, and why is the last one dim. We learned who bought twice â the people adding a run to a system that already worked. The product was never the fixture. It was the system the fixture plugged into.
2024
In 2024 we stopped adding and started subtracting. The plastic housings went first, then the fixtures that were too small for the job. What stayed had to earn its place: die-cast aluminum under a 70â100 ÎŒm powder coat, tested to 500 hours of salt spray; gaskets that seat and reseat; a socket where there used to be solder. Then the fit to the yard â a path light tall enough to clear mulch and snow, a spotlight sized for a tree rather than a shrub, a well light with a face that keeps the glare off the house. Nothing new was launched alongside its old version to see which one sold. The old version left.
2025
In 2025 we had our own tooling made â new molds, cut to our drawings, for lights designed to be opened. The tooling is the whole difference. A sealed fixture and a serviceable one look identical on a shelf. The difference is a socket instead of solder, a gasket instead of resin, a housing machined to open without breaking. None of it is exotic. All of it costs more than pouring resin â which is why, at aluminum prices, almost nobody does it.

Path lights
We started with the path lights, because path lights fail first: they live closest to the mower, the sprinkler and the shovel. On the pagoda and umbrella path lights the bulb is a stock G4. On the mushroom light it is an MR11. On the spotlights, brass or aluminum, it is an MR16. It lifts out in the ground â no pulling the stake, no rewiring, no specialist. When a bulb goes, you are holding a two-dollar part from any hardware store, not a dead fixture and a shovel.
Die-cast aluminum
We did it in aluminum on purpose. Replaceable bulbs mostly live at brass money, where the margin covers the socket. We put them in die-cast aluminum from $59.91 a set, under a coating that carries the same five-year warranty on the coast as it does inland â because the yard that needs a serviceable light is not usually the yard with a brass budget. When the budget is there, the umbrella path light comes in solid brass too, with the same bulb and a lifetime warranty.
Serviceable light
A serviceable light is half the promise. The other half is the shelf behind it. G4, MR11 and MR16 are carried everywhere, so the bulb aisle at any hardware store is also ours. We stock the bulbs anyway, and we sell every fixture singly or in small packs â so when one light finally goes, you replace one light, not the set. The wire in three gauges, the piercing connectors and the transformers from 65 to 600 watts sit on the same shelf, listed as a first-class aisle instead of buried under a support tab.
Yard light
The other half of a good yard light is where the light goes. 2700 K, the color of a porch bulb. Beams aimed at the path, the tree or the wall, not past them. A shield wherever a window would catch the glare. Light that goes up is wasted twice: it costs the watt, and it costs the night. Finishes follow what American yards are actually doing â sand-textured black that reads as hardware, oil-rubbed bronze that reads as trim, brass left to weather. It is what lets a lit yard look like a yard at night instead of a parking lot.
Not everything we make comes apart yet. Deck, in-ground, hardscape and pond lights, three of the path light styles and most of the aluminum spotlights run integrated LEDs today. Every product card says so in plain text. As tooling comes online they are being rebuilt to take stock bulbs â path lights first, spotlights next, the rest as the tooling allows.
None of this is the cheapest way to build a light, and it is not the most profitable way to sell one. It is the way a first weekend goes right and stays right: fixtures go in once, the yard adds runs as it grows, and anything that fails costs a bulb, or one light, not a project. A weekend project that stays done. Every part replaceable. That is still the whole of it.
